Balloons, bubbles, and blazers! An evening at BABETTA’s launch event -Autumn 2022.

Local Leeds fashion brand BABETTA took centre stage at Harvey Nicholl’s fourth-floor Brasserie & Bar in Autumn 2022, debuting their first-ever exclusive womenswear collection to the fashionistas of West Yorkshire, before officially launching their website in December 2022. If you weren’t lucky enough to grab tickets to the sold-out event, here is what you missed…


When greeted by the doorman at the entrance of Harvey Nicholls, located in the luxurious Victorian Quarter in Leeds City Centre, we were directed to the fourth-floor Bar and Brasserie. After taking the lift to the event and getting our names ticked off the guest list, we were greeted by a warm welcome by the CEO of the BABETTA brand, Sophie Blakeman, who toured us around the intimate yet full event. After introducing myself to several fellow fashion students, we grabbed a complimentary BABETTA drink from the personalized cocktail menu (BABETTA themed of course) and prepared to listen to the CEO’s welcome speech.


Sophie welcomed all 50+ guests, who were all in attendance to support her brand launch and gain exclusive access to her garments. After huge cheers and a round of applause for the turnout success of the event, Sophie began to tell attendees the story of her brand ‘BABETTA’.


Sophie stated that “BABETTA was created as an independent womenswear brand featuring pieces that reflect elegance and confidence. The brand takes much inspiration from my grandma and is celebrated with the name BABETTA. Strength, independence and kindness are values that we pride ourselves on and believe these truly represent ‘the Babetta woman.’ ”


Founded in 2022 by Sophie Blakeman, BABETTA was built on the principles of timeless styles, lasting fashion and accessible luxury. BABETTA exists as the transitional brand that ethically inspires women to become the best version of themselves.


After a successful speech, attendees were able to gain exclusive first access to ‘The Core Collection’, described by Blakeman as a ‘timeless capsule wardrobe’. Mannequins and rails showcased the brand's first-ever collection, allowing attendees to meet and try on all featured products. Worn by the CEO of the brand on the launch night, Sophie styled together the BABETTA blazer and trousers for an instant pulled-together look. The blazer has been meticulously tailored by hand. This timeless style is detailed with shoulder pads and a cinched waist. The BABETTA trousers accentuate your silhouette and provide the perfect pleat, their high-waisted trousers are a sleek and flattering addition to any closet. Many other pieces were displayed such as the classic BABETTA shirt, vest and tee, offering attendees to include capsule premium quality basics into their wardrobe to create a dressed up or dressed down look.


The brand identity was truly capsulated through Blakeman’s attention to detail as the colour, ‘BABETTA blue’, surrounded the fourth-floor bar at Harvey Nicholls. Personalised BABETTA balloons filled the ceiling which shadowed a blue silhouette under the spotlights. The iconic, capitalised BABETTA logo was placed on the tables and walls of the event. Personalised BABETTA cupcakes were distributed for attendees to eat whilst choosing from a personalised BABETTA cocktail menu, which was made by bartenders at the event's exclusive bar. The event didn’t stop there… photographers were on foot encapsulating memories of the night every second, as supportive event attendees gathered in support of the brand launch. The photo booth was a huge success for all attendees, as fashionistas posed holding a personalised BABETTA Instagram post frame. Blakeman also gave attendees an opportunity to enter a raffle which gave one lucky winner the chance to win the BABETTA Tee!


Overall, the event was a huge success! A fun-filled evening full of local fashionistas networking together in celebration of an upcoming fashion brand…it was truly a beautiful sight. The attention to detail was outstanding and Sophie Blakeman’s effort truly paid off. Her BABETTA brand launched on the 14th of December 2022 and is now available to shop online via the BABETTA website or through Instagram.
